Northern Ireland Make up web site gets a face lift
As all successful web site owners know, your web site should never be allowed to become static and stale. Every web site should be periodically reviewed to ensure it matches your customer´s needs and your objectives.
Why you should keep your web site fresh
One of out oldest clients (in terms of longevity of custom, I mean!) is Oonagh Boman. Oonagh owns Ireland´s only make up school and is one of those client´s who has seen her web site play a significant part in her business growth.
"As a result [of have her site updated] my workload has increased dramatically, my school intake has almost doubled and the interest in my make-up services has surpassed my expectations."
Recognising the importance of keeping her web site design fresh and vibrant, Oonagh asked us to do a complete face-lift. So we´ve added a great new theme with some fantastic new content and images. You can check out this great new look for Northern Ireland´s leading make up web site here.
Does your site need a make-over?

Happy St Patrick´s Day
Its that time of year again when we dig up the shamrock and head for the closest pint of the black stuff!
St Patrick´s Day is upon us and all at Inspired will be taking time out today to enjoy a little celebration!
Tomorrow will be another day - full of paracetamol I´m sure!
Perth To Paradise Charity Cycle Ride - a big Challenge for a young lad!
I don´t know about you, but I´m afraid that as I enter into my "40-something" phase and my web design workload increases, the height of my physical activity has been reduced to a swift walk around the block to fetch the local paper!
My online mate Brendon Sinclair, who runs one of Australia´s leading Gold Coast web marketing companies, doesn´t share my fondness for the sofa! In fact, last year he cycled over 1,000Km in a couple of weeks, and in the process helped to raise some $175,000 AUS for charity!
Now, even this impressive feat is to be surpassed. Not just by Brendon, but this time by his 15 year old son Jack!
15 year old Jack to cycle across Australia
Yes, Jack is going to cycle 4,500Km across Australia in 30 days! And just like his dear old dad, he will be using the event to fundraise for the very worthwhile Australian charity - Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The charity provides a caring volunteer mentor and positive role model to disadvantaged young people in need of additional support and friendship .
I don´t think there are many of us who haven´t come across a young person who could turn their fortunes around with the help, advice and guidance of someone who´s "been there" already. It makes me wonder if Belfast couldn´t benefit from a similar scheme.
Anyway, why am I mentioning all of this?
Well, first of all, I´m so impressed at Jack´s obvious generous nature as well as his ambition and drive - particularly at a time when many of Belfast´s young people view Call of Duty on the XBox as their greatest challenge!
One good turn deserves a dozen!
But most of all, as I now count Jack´s dad as a friend who has given me so much of his time, expertise and wisdom over the past year or two - I want to do whatever little I can to help Jack raise the funds that will ensure his efforts are a huge success.
To find out more about how this plucky 15 year old lad is going to cycle across Australia, just click the images above and, if at all possible, please make a donation to help him on his way to his target.
Good luck Jack. Good Luck Brendon.
How Northern Ireland Dentists Can cut the cost of missed appointments
The cost of missed Northern Ireland dental appointments, and across the UK for that matter, can certainly mount up - with one survey in Cardiff showing that over an 8 month period, the costs reached a whopping £322,000!
With a simple web service that bolts onto their existing web site, Northern Ireland dentists can send appointment reminders by email or SMS. A friend of mine recently launched one such service.
And yet, with the potential to save such an amount of money, I can´t believe why he´s having trouble convincing Northern Ireland dentists how to reduce the cost of their missed appointments.
It just makes you wonder!
UK Internet Use Soars in 2007
The British are going digital -- fast.
According to eMarketer.com, 2007 was another boom year for the Internet in the United Kingdom. Almost 37 million people went online in an average month—that’s over 60% of the population.
”Britain has one of the most experienced and active online populations in the world,” says Karin von Abrams, eMarketer Senior Analyst, “Confidence in e-commerce is high.”
In fact, the UK will account for at least 40% of 2008 online sales in Western Europe.
A Great Move for McGimpseys Web Site
I wrote a while back about my favourite northern ireland removals specialist, McGimpsey Brothers. They´re based in Bangor, about 20 miles from Belfast and provide professional services to people moving from Northern Ireland or moving to Ireland. They also offer great self storage and document storage facilities in their warehouse at their International Relocation Centre.
Anyway, we´ve just launched their redesigned web site here. It´s taken a little longer than expected - mainly due to the attention to detail that was paid to ensuring their site was exactly what they wanted.
Customer Satisfaction guaranteed.
I´ve noticed over the past few months of working with them, what an extremely friendly and dedicated team of people they really are. I´ve noticed how Campbell McGimpsey, who is one of life´s true gentlemen, ensures that every customer is treated with the highest respect. To Campbell, the customer is always right.
And the kids go free...
Campbell even considered the kids who are moving! He´s had us introduce a kiddies zone to the site - just to keep the little one´s involved in the whole house moving experience. That was a nice touch.
Moving house can be fun.
But, just to prove how the whole idea of moving house can be taken to an extreme, I came across this video of a poor Irish home removals expert being wound up by Irish joker Jake!
From little acorns... great web sites grow!
A client asked me to speak to a group of her colleagues on what it takes to build a successful website.
The attendees are all part of a Northern Ireland Garden Growers group - keen to examine how using a web site might help their businesses to trade at home and abroad.
I was informed that some of the group may have had no Internet experience at all, plus they´d had a long day and a long meeting before I arrived.
I was asked to try to ensure my talk was in plain English!
Top 5 Reasons To Have A Web Site
I began by explaining what I believe are the most important reasons for having a web site:
Reason 5. To provide frequently changing information quickly and cost effectively;
Reason 4. To create a 24 hour service that keeps selling even when you’re asleep!
Reason 3. To reach a global market as well as your local markets
Reason 2. To enhance your credibility as the No.1 choice in your field
However, despite my infectious personality ;-), it soon became apparent that some of the listeners weren´t impressed with the first four items on my list.
Luckily, I had kept my secret, plain English, weapon til last!
Reason 1:
"The value of Internet sales by UK businesses rose to £130.4bn in 2006” (National Statistics Office – 30 Nov 2007)
The seed sprouted!
I could see even the weariest eyes light up!
Its true that business people, whether they be in IT, Footwear or Northern Ireland Garden Growers, all appreciate a money making opportunty when they see it!
Sometimes though, they just need a little help in understanding how that opportunity can be brought about.
